That's a very nice idea! Dorothy deserves it so much.

When I became an OB member, a few years ago, I was so happy to find here a friendly place, where people talk about their great passion for orchids. Dorothy was one of the most friendly person I met here in the first days and in the months later, being always willing to help, to say a nice word, to encourage me or any other new member, always smiling or making jokes.

I have never really met Dorothy, BUT what a special person if someone for so far away, form a different country and another culture, felt so good here because of her....

Condolences to her family....

Dorothy always went out of her way to make everyone welcomed. Doesn't matter where you're from. Everyone is treated equally on OB.. This place is soo friendly in part because of Dorothy's perpetual pleasantness....which is very contagious btw

Oh MY GOD! I can't believe it.
I missed this thread, I can NOT believe it! I met her for a short while about 1 year ago at an orchid talk in Jamaica Bay Nature Center here in NYC. She seemed so happy and full of energy, I wish we would have met again, I regret not getting the chance to tell her the location of my wedding, would have been a second meeting and I know she wanted to go. I always thought, later there will be more chances.
I'm sorry for the loss, and I send out wishes for peace to her family and close friends. What shock!

I hope that we've all taken something positive from this...

life is too short...treat others kindly...make sure the people you care about know it...think of what others will think of when you're gone...will it be something to be proud of or full of regrets?

The outpour of sadness for our friend D's passing is a tribute to the life she led and she is missed.

Default A special gift from an Orchidboard friend

One of our good friends here on OB has designed a special graphic design to represent the effect that D had on the lives of all she "met"...D's own orchids have been used for inspiration
They would like to remain anonymous but I would like to give them a very public

I have added it to D's profile as a memorial avatar...

Rest In Peace Friend
