Both my wife and I have severe allergy problems - I think Juli's is worse than mine. But the orchids don't effect us at all. I'm sure it's because these lovelies are polite enough to not blast pollen all over the place.

Hmmm. Interesting topic. As a matter of fact, when I visited San Diego orchid show in March last year, the displays and sales areas were covered with large number of blooming Den. speciosums. That smell gave me bad headache, stuffy nose and watery eyes athough I was taking Zertec.
It did not stop me shopping the plants.

Up until my mid 20s my allergy problems were horrendous. I never had any allergy problems around orchids. Hmm... I wounder if that was one of the things that really attacted me in the beginning. It was a deffinate plus any.

This reminds me of cat lovers- I have patients who are allergic to cats, but they have them anyway, and chose to "suffer" the consequences. Personally, I'll stick to orchids, or rather, let them stick to me.
