Not a scam in the least... instead, it is a way to generate money for the EcoMinga project (
fundacion ecominga), which buys up land near the Pastaza watershed in Ecuador for conservation and research. The area is unique, because it is a low elevation cloud forest, which has 50+ species plants not found anywhere else. It is also the home of the rare Spectacled Bear (Threatened: Vulnerable).
People included in the EcoMinga project include Calaway Dodson (Ecuadorian Orchid authority) and Lou Jost...
