Default Naming rights

Hi all, I went ebay and noticed that they have a auction for the naming right to a newly found orchid in the andes, the starting bid is $12,500.00.

For charity, well that's another kettle of orchids..they must have a verification/registration system in place for these kinds of things....one would hope...esp if the charity is a registered one....

Not a scam in the least... instead, it is a way to generate money for the EcoMinga project (fundacion ecominga), which buys up land near the Pastaza watershed in Ecuador for conservation and research. The area is unique, because it is a low elevation cloud forest, which has 50+ species plants not found anywhere else. It is also the home of the rare Spectacled Bear (Threatened: Vulnerable).

People included in the EcoMinga project include Calaway Dodson (Ecuadorian Orchid authority) and Lou Jost...

I made another thread about this eBay auction... didn't see this one is here.

-Pat

PS: How much to name the Brooklyn bridge?
