Apparently the tsunami warning has been cancelled now. So all should be safe.

Yes, luckily the waves generated by the tsunami were too small to do any damage. It was pretty amazing to see all the video of the coastal areas...Waikiki included. It was like a ghost town! Still can't get over the idiots that went to the beaches and got in the water...the coast guard and civil defense helicopters were keeping busy yelling at those folks to get out of the water and up to higher ground.

Hey! No more orchids for you until you have your new grow area all put together, missy!

Thanks for all that useful info, Tindo, Paul and Terri! Which ever one I end up doing, I'll be getting lots of photos and maybe a short video to post here after I get back.

IMHO, the Big Island is the best island to visit. There are more forests, more biomes and more completely different climate systems on this island than any others, including mountain tops with snow. It is not as built up as Oahu or Maui and the snorkeling/diving/fishing is probably the best in the islands as well. Not to mention the fact that the Big Island is nicknamed the 'Orchid Isle.'
