Unfortunately a lot people have believed this. Just an example of taking some information that sounds kinda right and taking it as true and never stopping to question it. I pretty much heard this myth growing up, so Camille the French are not alone, South Americans believe this too. I guess they don't know about how plant make oxygen, and just think plants make CO2. I mean, how do they think people survive in the amazon at night. Anyway, spread the truth!

The worst is that alot of people spread the myth without even knowing about the C02 at night thing. They just say "don't sleep with a plant in your bedroom, it will kill you/make you sick/give a headache/be bad for your health..." if you ask them why, they say "just because" and don't even stop to think about WHY!

I have almost 30 orchids in my bedroom 2 Begonias, 1 Calla and Lithops. In winter I close the windows at night, can that be harmful?

Ha! this is hilarious. I love the picture of the guy sleeping with his head sticking out the door! What's he supposed to do in the event of rain, snow, or frigid temperatures? ha!

Or what about people with second-story bedrooms, but no balcony? I suppose a person could elevate their bed so they were sleeping up by the ceiling. That way the heavier CO2 would settle down by the floor and they would be able to pass the night in safety.

I've never actually heard this before - about plants in the bedroom supposedly being dangerous. And here I was planning to put some lighted shelves loaded with orchids in my bedroom!

In 5th grade we learned that plants produce oxygen and humans exhale carbondioxide. Its a win win situation for existence. I have had plants in my bedroom ever since I was a child...my grandmother had lots of plants and fresh blooms in a vase everyday. The only downside are mosquitos.

I never heard this before.

Just recently my girls have shown an intrest in orchids, so I've given them each a small phal in bloom and put them in their bedrooms. I must admit, these 2 phals have been in bloom the longest of all my 'chids.
