But not the injured one!

Triffid, I'm sorry, I feel your pain! Hopefully, you can enjoy them for a while in a vase

Oh, so sorry you lost the spike Triffid

I have one that is not big, but has a small pot for the roots and quite large leaves. It HAS to be in the heavy outer pot. But I had watered and brought it back leaving the outer pot behind by the sink. I was in a rush to get to work so leaned it against another and forgot about it.

That evening poor hubby was so upset that he had knocked it over while drawing the curtain and broken a leaf and lost half the bark on the floor (luckily no spikes at that time to break). I assured him it was my fault because I knew it was unstable

Thanks for the sympathies Jennyfleur and Roscie. I've put it down to experience and will (eventually) learn from my mistakes.

Sorry to hear about yours Rosie. I can guess how upset your hubby would have been, never nice when accidents happen.
I Think I may mount the Free-Running Phal soon. At least it wont tip over then

I live in hope that I (and others) don't have another "DUH!" moment for quite some time (but I may just have jinxed things there)

Well, here's my latest "duh" moment:

I was repotting a couple of angry orchids last week because their growing medium was pretty broken-down. I was watching TV while doing so, so I wasn't paying too much attention to the plants or what I was putting them in. When I looked down, I noticed that I was potting the plants in Beef Jerky, which I was grabbing from a nearby bag. And here I thought I was putting them in bark.
