Default Better-Gro orchid from Lowe's

OK it's black Friday and Friday the 13th and I'm having a great day. I couldn't help myself when I saw this Dendrobium aggregatum var. majus for 12.00 at Lowe's. Usually this size plants are 16 to 18 dollar's. I hope this is the new price for these. My next stop was to pick up the tile I ordered for a job I'm doing and it made me laugh a little when I saw that the name of the tile was was Orchid porcelain. So far a great day

I can't believe some of the awesome orchids you guys get from home improvement stores in the States! Up here, Home Depot only sells "generic" Phals, Phal-type Dendrobiums, Oncidiums, Cymbidiums, and occasionally mini-Catts, and most of the time none of these even have ID tags! No Paphs, Phrags, species... Sigh.

same here in Brooklyn - mostly generics.

SOme nice surprises at Trader Joes - Onc Twinkle, Potinara with 2 sheats for 9.99.
the best ones no tag but most have a name...

I can relate Joe about the HD's here in Alberta, never anything really good. Some of the Phals are nice but never a Paph or Phrag to be seen. I rarely will even see a Catt.

Here too we get very little - mostly the sick & twisted, like YAY!

Our Lowes generally carries very few if any orchids, however, last spring I scored a Den. Pixie Princess there in full bloom, 2 spikes, for $15. You better believe that pot jumped in my cart!
