Jason Fisher from Orchid Ltd coming to Portland, OR
Thanks to LinhT ( Tracy ), I was able to connect with Jason and he agreed to have his presentation about "Japanese Orchids" for our orchid society meeting in November. The meeting will be on November 17th. Please PM me if you are interested in attending. I will send you some information.
The other exciting news is that your total order will receive 10% discount and no shipping costs since he will be bringing your order with him.
I placed my order a while ago and cannot wait. Tracy also warned me that he would practice his Japanese with me. HA. I will speak him back in English.

unfortunately, his prices are much higher than other vendors. his japanese plants in particular can usually be purchased elsewhere for much less. (50%-80% less for some varieties). he does have some plants you just can't get elsewhere, but it's always a good idea to shop around first. seed engei almost always has better prices.
anthony, i was planning to visit his greenhouse the last time i was in minneapolis, but didn't have the time. is it a big greenhouse?

I think I've ordered enough from Seed Engei to be a "valued" customer. I've always given her a plug on the forums. However, I've dealt with several order issues with SE, already. If it's a cheap plant (under $50) I'll still get it. Anything over that, heck no.
If she comes to the Midwest, I'd drive to another state to buy her plants in person, but getting it shipped? Screw that. Also, some of SE's plants have great root systems. Some, not so much. I've never had a neo with bad roots from OL. I've been there a couple times to help remound neos and they're very healthy. Sick ones get tossed.
SE's prices are unbeatable though and they ALWAYS have something I want!!! That's why I still order, even after getting screwed over and over again. For those of you who've had nothing but good luck with SE, hooray. I hope you never have to deal with any problems because there is no 1-800 # to call, (like on OL's website), and ask "what's up with this crappy plant you sent me?" or "where on earth IS my plant?". You have to email. Then...you WAIT.
Naoki! I'm so jealous he gets to see your paph collection!! You'll have to show me a pic of that Paraphaleo...whatever thing you ordered.

As he arrived at Portland, we drove to visit Theresa Hills at Hillsview Orchids and spent some time. ( It was my first time to visit her greenhouse. ) OMG! What an incredible greenhouse. Lots of complex paphs.
His presentation was excellent and I am so glad that lots of people showed up. I am looking forward to his 'next' visit to Portland.
Here are my plants. :rollhappy:
1. Paraphalaenopsis labukensis (pre-order)
2. Paph. Pink Sky & Paph Platy Swith 'Maxima' x Norito Hasegawa 'Banana Split' (pre-order)
3. Neofinetia falcata 'Shutennou' (at the meeting)
4. Cym goeringii 'Shuuen' (gift/experiment) - Per Jason, this one is going to stay outsite during the winter.
5. Dendrobium moniliforme 'Kouryou' (gift / experiment ) - Per Jason, this one, too is going to stay outside during the winter.
