Today's haul from the Tampa Orchid Club show/sale
All of these just screamed my name, there was no hesitation at all on my part!
The first is Aeridovanda Somsri Sunlight which reminds me of rainbow sherbert and has a light fruity fragrance...way too cute to pass it up
Next is Phal lamelligera which at first glance I thought was cornu-cervi...but my great friend Laura pointed out that it was something different and after one closer glance, I basically took it out of her hand
Bad Sue Bad!!! but Laura is a sweetheart and let me keep it when I offered to let her have it back
When I mentioned to Bill Fajen that I had just purchased that one from his sale collection, he asked if I saw the "other" special Phal he had with him and I told him that I hadn't. He went to get this little 3" square of tree root with a couple of non-special leaves on it and when he saw that I didn't light up he smiled and lifted the leaves to expose two of these tiny little beauties.
I'm hoping to get Laura to photograph it with her much better camera because my picture does not show the minute detail in this one! Bill showed me a photo he had taken with better equipment (and more experience than me ) and it shows two rows of what look like sharp teeth along the lip and it has fangs...I love it!
One look and it was mine
I also picked up a mounted Slc Physchomanniana which is a lovely shade of pink but I can't get a good pic of it and I got a little seedling of a gorgeous tall blush colored Den (can't remember the name)
Laura got a few stunning Vandas today...one of them is the most amazing dark dark purple I have ever seen. I have to ask her to post a photo
All in all, a great day spent with a good friend...and orchids

I saw the Aeridovanda. When I got there, the vendor still had two left. I came this close to picking up a denisoniana cross that the grower had, and a Gramm. speciosum from Ursa orchids. I had to limit myself, though, because I'm waiting for several internet orders to arrive. I did pick up two beauties, though (read your visitor comments).
Those are some great purchases, Sue.

This sale with Sue was a reinactment of just about every other sale that we've attended together...
I point out a plant that Sue should buy...she looks slightly less than impressed...I say then I'll buy it!...the seller says that it's rare...Sue thinks it's on her wish list...The seller and I both say that we've never seen it available before... The seller mentions that it's the only one that he has...I say "Oops only one and I'm holding it in my hand!"...Sue slaps me and steals the flower!
She did indeed offer it back to me, but with a slight sadness to her voice and I didn't have the heart to take it back
Truthfully though, she does a fabulous job with the phal species and I am hit or miss with them, so it's only right that it go to a home where we know it will thrive!
Besides I did bring home a beautiful Vanda that she saw first, so that made us pretty even!

LOL. I guess my purchases wouldn't be safe, either.
