Well, I don't know who it was either, but I'm very interested in what you have for your phal collection. Why don't you post the list here? Inquiring minds want to know.

O.K., here it is. Not extremely impressive I know but I'm getting there.
Due to budget constraints I have to buy seedlings or, if I'm lucky, NBS, so some of these have a long way to go before showing off for me. But growing is half the fun!!!

Al

Nice collection Al! Can't wait until they grow up and you post pictures. You're right about the growing being half the fun.
I'm curious... can you pronounce them all? That's my biggest problem with orchids- pronouncing the names correctly

That is quite a collection!
I only wish that I could grow phals, but alas, I've only managed to keep a few alive...
Can't wait to see photos!

Only some of them Bill. Here is a good place to ask this question. When a name ends with two i's, how is that pronounced?

Quite a few of these are in spike, some have blossomed and a few still in blossom. I'm still a bit leary about posting phal. pictures...sometimes when you get knocked down it's difficult to pick yourself up. Not all of you will understand this last sentence but for those of you that do.........think about how you would feel.

Al

Al, When it ends in 2 ii's, such as mannii, the orchid police want you to pronounce it MANNI-EYE. I had some grower jump down my throat several years ago when I asked about a Paph LOWEE(lowii). He answered in a haughty tone " That's LOWI-EYE ". He then came down from his high horse and we actually had a pleasant conversation about naming and pronounciation.
