I'd say your plant is starved and that's why it is so small. Repotting into even regulat potting soil will make a big difference. A succulent-type soil is ideal but I have grown mine in promix and its fine as long as you don't overwater. If you gradually move it to brighter light, the leaves will develop more striking markings.
