Thumbs up Who has this month's Orchids magazine?

In this month's Orchids magazine from the AOS, there is an article on growing award-quality plants written by Ryan Kowalczyk. I really enjoyed reading it.

The back cover is from Krull-Smith, announcing the acquisition of their entire slipper breeding program by Ursa Orchids in Tampa, Florida...

What am I missing? There's a local nursery I haven't been to, I ask myself

So...I decided to check out the web site for Ursa ( Ursa Orchids ) and found that it is under construction. They give the option of being put on their notification list for when the site and the nursery will be up and running, so I sent them an email.

Imagine the little squirrels turning the big wheel in my head when the response came back...from somebody named Ryan Kowalczyk

Could it be the same guy who wrote the article I so enjoyed?

Yes it is!!!

We've "spoken" through email a few times and I asked him if it was okay to post this information here. This is Ryan's response:

Quote:
Hello Susanne,
Of course you can let them know. Just make sure that they understand we are currently under construction. Our website will be up first, some time near the end of July, and our grand opening should be sometime this fall, Oct/Nov. Thank you for helping to get the word out!
Ryan
Most of you know that I, for whatever reasons, do not do well with growing Paphs and Phrags
but I'm thinking I might just have to try them again

Maybe an OB get-together for their grand opening???

Steve, if you're ever in the Tampa area, we'd have to do an OB get-together!

For sure! My grandma used to live in St. Pete and I love that area! I wanna take my fiance to Disney World sometime in the future, so that will probably be the only time I make the trek to FLA. I will definitely let you know!!

Way cool!

I'm on the list and will post any information about their opening as soon as I get it. It would be great to have a bunch of us meet there!

Anybody that is interested in getting on their list just needs to use the link they provide on the construction page of their site.

Hi Susanne,
Thanks for the infor and the opportunity to get together.

I'm game, so long as it doesn't fall on a judging weekend for me...the fourth Saturday of each month. Just keep us posted...if I can make it, I will!
