OMG! I'm Just Incredulous!
Today was our OS show and sale. AOS & ribbon judging was this morning. I had six plants entered into the amateur in home grower class, and all six won a blue ribbon. Pretty exciting stuff. I couldn't stop grinning. Then I also won the society best amateur display award. Also very exciting. Then as a society friend and I were walking around looking at displays I asked him why there were Post-It Notes stuck to some of the display cards. He said those were the plants that had been nominated by one of the AOS judges to be awarded. So I slink by my section again and I almost pooped my pants....there is a post it note stuck to my big lavendar Phal. They took it to the table, and looked at it for a few minutes, and then took it back. It was not awarded (I would be typing this from the ER if it had), but I never in a million years would have thought ANY plant of mine was good enough to even be considered. I still can't believe it!

That's super Terri!! Sounds liek you were living your very own orchid fairy tale. Do you have pics of these ribbon winning babies?

Terri, that is all FANTASTIC stuff!!!
Isn't it a nice warm-fuzzy feeling when you see those ribbons hanging from your plant in the display
The fact that your plant was even considered for an AOS award is something to be very proud of! It shows a job VERY well done...and many times the only reason a plant is looked at and then not actually given an award is that it doesn't exceed certain criteria of a previously awarded example of the same plant. Check the awards section of Orchidwiz for your plant, you may find that an earlier plant had a few more blooms than yours, or the blooms were a little bigger...or "something" just as simple.
