Thanks, Terri! It's so interesting...I wouldn't think our growing conditions would be very similar given location. But you and I do sync up on a lot!

Yvan, if you think about it we're both roughly at about the same latitude. Both locations have cold winters with snow and beastly hot summers. Probably our biggest difference (and I could be way off here) is in our relative humidity. Ours is super low in the summer and in the 70-80% range in the winter. I picture just the opposite in NY.

You are totally right, Terri! Very much the opposite RH pattern. I love the NYC summers, high temps in the 90s with super high humidity! Wish I lived someplace where it was NYC summer year-round. Not kidding.

So...would now officially like thoughts from anyone on the Sigmatostalix costaricensis and the Encyclia tripunctata. (They're the little guys who jumped into my shopping cart as TCs.)

OW says:

Prosthechia tripunctata-
Light - 2500-4000 fcs
Temps - summer 80-85 days, 60 nights
RH - 70-80% summer, 40-50% winter
Rest - moderate

Sigmatostalix costaricenis-
Light - 1500-2300 fcs
Temps - summer 82-84 days, 65-67 nights
RH - 75-80% year round
Rest - just a reduction in water during winter

They look cool!
