Default Looking for suggestions

I'm getting married in early March up in Lake Tahoe. I would like to use live orchid plants as my centerpieces. We are doing all the planning ourselves to keep it affordable. Since we are going up in a truck there is no way I can take them up myself. Ideally I would like to find a vendor that would be able to get the plants delivered by a certain day into Reno. My friend would be able to take them up the hill. I would prefer Phals. blooming of course, half of the plants deep purple and the other half yellow. If this is possible, I figured this would be the best place of any to get feedback on vendors that would be able to provide these plants. Thanks

Well, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen lots and lots of cut orchids for sale. Most are purple dendroubiums, but walking in Manhatten today I saw some brownish orchids too, looked my cymbids or something. Do they have to be live plants or phals? In anycase, hope someone can suggest a vendor.

Thanks Tin,
Almost all of the cut ones are dens. I was thinking, since everyone close to me knows I'm an orchid freak, it would be nice to let some people take them home as giveaway gifts. I just can't stand the thought of using cut orchids as centerpieces, I'd rather go to tulips if I have to do that!

]I'de use irisis as the next of kin to orchids. But they might not be as easily available. In anycase, Im sure you'll find some vendor out there with plenty of show phals for a day. maybe Cattleya would be better if they are going to be in the sunny outdoors all day.

Congratulation Erin! May you enjoy a lifetime of happiness together.

There are many growers in the neighboring state of CA ans can ship to your local - getting them may not be very affordable though.

It will look pretty sharp with tall arching spikes, might be harder to get a yellow flower with those characteristics. Seems like the white, pink and deep lavenders are best for good tall spikes. Good luck in your hunt.

Congrats on the wedding!

Lake Tahoe is great, where you do plan on the wedding ceremony taking place? I heard there is still good skiing at North Star and Squaw Valley, and there's always good skiing at Mt. Rose Used to stay at King's Beach (near the Safeway, CA side)... anyways, have fun! I'd suggest something simple, like you said, Phalaenopsis. Perhaps, if you're willing to spend some money, some cheaper Paphiopedilum hybrids...

Thanks for the support, everyone. We are getting married at Harvey's casino, at Top of the Wheel with a view of the whole west side of the lake. And because of the east location, Heavenly is a typical spot but Sugarbowl was a fav of mine, and I want to try North Star! Can't wait to hit the hill!
