Spring vacation in Germany! - Orchid Board

I am going to Germany on Saturday for vacation. We will be staying in Heppenheim (between Darmstadt and Heidelberg). I was wondering if anyone knew of any nice gardens to visit in the area. I know it will be beautiful with all the spring flowers and everything decorated for Easter.

Of course I am curious about orchids, too. Is it allowed to bring any back? I had my wursts confiscated last year! hehe

I would love to go to some orchid growers in the area if possible. Any suggestions?

Have a fun trip! I know relatively little about Germany so I can't help you about the gardens. As for the orchids, you are not allowed to bring anything back with cites so all you can do is drool over them. I know plenty of german growers, but don't know their addresses. I'll look some up!

I looked up the 5-6 german growers I know of, and none of them are within less than 2-3 hour drive from where you are staying.
I tried to find gardens, put it's hard since I don't speak a word of german! I'm sure that the local tourist office can help you out. You should have gone to the Netherlands if you want to see spring gardens. The giant Keukenhof tulip-daffodil garden is probably starting to bloom now.
