This “tank” was awesome! Chock full of masdies, and the hanging ones are draculas.
**A note for any vendors who might read this!**
There were several things that influenced my purchases, and a couple observations that I had which might be useful.
1. If prices were not marked, or there was not a tag in the pot or in the vicinity, I did not bother. There were way too many people milling about to try to ask such a simple question, and there was more than likely another vendor with either the same, or similar, plant with a price and a tag.
2. Be careful what conversations you have while customers are looking at your plants. One vendor was having a conversation with friend (and it seemed also a fellow vendor) about sales at the show. The two carried on about how bad sales were, it was the worst sales they’d ever seen at a show, and that they had just covered their table fee with the orchids they had sold, but that meant the orchids had basically been given away for free. And on they went in an “oh woe is me” tone. Meanwhile, here I am, happy customer with cash burning a hole in my pocket right there under their nose not being at all shy about the fact that I was
really taking a close look at his plants. A simple question of, “can I answer any questions for you?” “is there anything specific you’re looking for” or “what type of growing conditions to you currently have” could have kept me from just walking away, and would have been a much better use of time. I felt the conversation was quite unprofessional, and I felt a bit like I was eavesdropping on a private chat! No wonder this vendor had terrible sales! LOL The
very helpful and friendly folks at Andy’s asked me all these question nearly as soon as I began to look. Some of that money escaped my pocket there!
By and large, the vendors were great. All were very friendly and helpful. I felt real bad walking away from some of them because they had engaged me so well, but they just didn’t have something I was interested in. I was certainly in spend mode, but did have to stick to a budget! With no budget, I would have snapped up stuff from nearly every vendor there.
