March monthly status report
Hello all,
I haven't seen anyone post a monthly status report in a while.
In Bloom:
Brassavola Little Stars
Rehfieldara Jerry 'Pacific Empire'
Maxillaria variabilis 'Grace'
Phal. Tai Lin Redangel
Tolumia Genting Peach
Paph noid
Miltonia 'voluptuous' (my new favorite)
In Bud:
C. IWAN Apple Blossom
Miltonia Rene Komoda 'Pacific Clouds'
Phrag. Nitidissimum (bought in 2007 and I've yet to see it bloom)
C. aurantiaca (also my first bloom since I bought it in 2007)
I have other phals spiking and a few others showing potential, but these are the ones either in bloom or soon to bloom.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but my camera and I are having a love/hate relationship lately. It doesn't want to cooperate. I think it's just too cold and/or getting cabin fever. Like me!

It all looks so pretty and cozy at your house, kiki. These blooms are outstanding and love the background scenery. By the way...what is that white stuff?
Great growing!

Things are looking great at your place, Kiki! Nice growing. I also have a Phrag. nitidissimum but I just got it last year so I guess I have a while to wait. That's a gorgeous maudiae!

I've been real lazy about posting my status reports the last couple of months so here goes.
In Bloom:
B. nodosa single flower
Den. atroviolaceum – Second round of spikes are in full bloom. There are 10 spikes this time.
Den. Frosty Dawn –3 flowers open
Den. Paskal Kuning ‘Hawaii’ – 8 flowers total. Dropped it and broke off the top.
Dtps. Malibu Merlot – Should be 10 flowers this year
Dtps. Taida Salu ‘Sunset’ – 8 flowers open with about 4-5 more starting to develop
Masd. Ken Dole – growing a single new growth. Has 1 spike in bloom and a 2nd one on the way.
Masd. Maui Prince – purchased from Ivan Komoda 1/09 in bloom. 3 flowers
Masd. Redwing ‘Rolfe’ AM/AOS x princeps – 2 spikes, both in bloom
Phal. Brother Sara ‘Gold’ – Should have 10 flowers
Phal. Mini Mark ‘Holm’ – The original spike started growing again and developed a whole new set of buds. 2 flowers are currently open. Also has a new spike started with 2 flowers open.
Phal. NOID Birthday White – Will have about 10-12 flowers. It’s very tall this year
Phal. NOID White Magenta Lip – Total of 11 flowers on 2 spikes. Still don’t like the presentation.
Phal. SIO’s Night Leopard – Sending up it’s first spike in 2 years! First re-bloom on this one for me. 5 flowers total
Phal. Yellowstone – 2 flowers open, one bud to go. First bloom seedling
Rolf. Hoku Gem ‘Freckles’ HCC/AOS – New growth has a large new spike with at least 4 flowers on it.
Vuyl. Enzan Fantasy– has 6 flowers. Red with lilac edging on bottom of lip
In Bud:
Den. jenkinsii – 5 tiny spikes with 1-2 buds each!! First bloom for me.
Den. NOID nobile – Moved back in the house and resumed watering. 4 buds
Den. Swallow – Moved back in the house and resumed watering. 8 buds
Epi. NOID – small spike has developed bud cluster
Iwan. Appleblossom - Buds are emerging from the sheath. Looks like there might be 3
Milt. NOID – newest growth has a single spike with 2 buds. Didn't think it would bloom since I recently divided it.
Paph. delenatii - single spike with double bud, one beginning to open
Phal. Dou-dii Pearl – Spike has 2 buds
In Spike/Sheath:
Dtps. Purple Martin ‘Kenneth Schubert’ – Starting a new spike
Epi. Glory - spike broke off, starting a new one
Masd. Angel Tang – growing a single spike
Masd. Copper Angel – growing 2 spikes
Phal. Bright Peacock ‘Maple Bridge’ – a tiny new spike developing. This will be a first bloom for this seedling.
Phal. equestris - growing 2 Keikis. Starting a new spike.
Phal. violacea x bellina – starting a new spike, cut the old ones from last year off as they didn’t do anything

Yay!! Here's my March status report:
In Bloom:
Phal. Mini Mark 'Holm' – 6 blooms on 2 spikes, with a latent bud recently deciding to join in the fun
Phal. equestris – 10 blooms on 1 spike with at least 3 more buds to go
Phal. lobbii – recently acquired this in-bud; 7 blooms on 2 spikes, one more bud to go
Den. Pixie Charm – 5 blooms open with at least that many more buds to come
In Spike/Bud:
Phal. cornu-cervi – recent acquisition
Bulbo. guttulatum – 1 spike with 9 buds; this is spiking from a pseudobulb which already put out a spike last September
Tolumnia Phyllis Envy 'Ruby Queen' – single spike growing and growing and growing...buds may be just starting to form
Other items of note:
Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom 'Pink Bouquet' – I think is beginning to put out two spikes
Den. laevifolium x self – may have buds growing from the tops of a couple old, leafless pseudobulbs, but not quite sure yet
Leptotes bicolor – some kind of sheathy, nubbiny thing is growing from a couple of the newest growths...from the bottom of the leave's groove
