Sue,

I am not familiar with this product. Are these printers for typical plant label tags or something else?

Hi Bill

A number of folks here use this labeler to make their orchid name tags. They say these labels last forever without fading.

I was hoping they might still be available at the blow-out cost the folks who ordered last week got but the price has gone up dramatically. I get the Daily Deals email from ebay each day, if I see them on sale again, I will post it here on OB again

Sue. JUST A SUGGESTION.

What I try to do now with all new plants, or if I re-pot, is this.

If it is a plastic pot, I punch a small hole in the pot and attach the label to the pot through the hole, with a twist-tie. If it is a re-pot, I put the same label onto the new pot.

If it is a teracotta pot, I attach the tag, with a twist-tie, onto the stem of the plant. I thought about just sticking the new label on the pot but if I change pots, the label WILL NOT come off.

I like to place the label in the pot just as I always did. I leave the twist-tie long enough so I can pull the label out to mark info on the back side of the tag.

It is a bit costly but the labels look so professional, and they last forever.

I also color code my labels......white for paphs, orange for phrags. green for neo crosses...........

I'm considering putting a small dot on the label stating the light requirements, and possibly the temp requirements.

Marilyn

A few weeks ago, I got a great deal on 500 plant tags (on ebay ) so once I can start taking the chids out of their room for good, I'm making a new label, attaching it to a new tag (which has a hole in it) and will be attaching that new tag directly to the plant. It's something that Florida chid owners should do so that when one of our hurricanes or tropical wind storms comes through, the plants are labeled even if they come out of their pot

Sue,

Can you use standard plastic plant labels for this machine? or do they take special forms?

The labels are TZ231 tapes:

Brother TZ231 P-touch Tape - Black on White

These then need to be put on a tag of some sort. I got a great deal recently on ebay for tags:
eBay Store - Woodland Creek Nursery Labels: Plastic Nursery Labels, Flower Spike Stem Clips, Chain-Link Plant Hangers
