:rofl: That is oh so true!! That happens to me way too often. Orchid also modify your sense of money value. 10€ for an orchid seems like a pretty good deal, but spending the same amount on something non orchid related, like to eat out at lunch, seems to be way too much!!

....If your growroom lights make your home look like a big alien spaceship to anyone who happens to go past the place at night.

...and if you have been questioned by friends, neighbors and possibly even guys in uniform on the reasons for those said lights. :whistling :rofl:

I know! :evil: I'm past the 70 mark... but about 25 of them are youngins. So they don't take up much space and are easy to water all at once.

:rofl::rofl: This is me! My "grow room" is on the front corner of my house... which sits directly on the corner and has windows on both sides. But a local dispatcher is a friend, and we've had officers in our house several times to chat about the rising crime problems in our neighborhood. I'm more scared of the dopies breaking in to steal the lights. :shock:

If the windows of your house are all steamed up and you're to old for it to be the other reason they might be.

When you beat your precious kitty after he knocks 2 orchids in the floor.

When your friends say you need to go to meetings, because of how obsessed you are.

When you walk by a display of orchids at the store and whimper because you can't have any, because you made a VERY HASTY promise to your husband to not buy any more orchids for the WHOLE YEAR, just because you wanted that 'Baby Pink' dendrobium, even though you have 2 coming in the mail that week.

When you are thinking of ways to sneak orchids in the house and use your best friends address to have them delivered, because of the above mentioned promise.

When you go into the reptile store to get your snakes some food and notice a huge tank, to which you say "That would be AWESOME for growing orchids" Your husband promptly rolls his eyes and walks away saying something under his breath.

when you go to pet store for dog food and notice the grapewood for reptiles and cork bark for hermit crabs and realize that they would be awesome for mounting chids :D

When your spouse starts researching a 12 step program for your addiction.... you might be...

Maybe you should get your orchids their own cinnamon, alcohol, and Listerine. I mean, aren't you worried about cross contamination? Just think about all the bacteria and mold your orchids might be exposed to when you take the listerine back out from the bathroom.

But multiples of each increases genetic diversity and results in healthier offspring when propagating.

I went to a meeting... they gave me two 'chids and encouraged my addiction.

You suggest that your husband would feel better if he did not buy parts for his telescope but instead just saved his money to buy you Carter and Holmes gift certificates for you upcoming birthday:)

Your furnace breaks in the winter and the one functioning space heater you own goes in the orchid growing room in the basement, not the bedroom.

Go into Williams-Sonoma for a madeline pan and instead look at their shelving and think, "this would be perfect to house my orchids."

Go into JoAnn fabrics and The Container store for organizing solutions--for your orchid supplies.

.....the only thing you use the living room for is reading the newspaper, and housing your orchids.

I've actually seen something like that done! I have a gardening book from the 70's with a picture of a central courtyard roofed with glass bricks, in New York, I think. The house forms the walls of the courtyard with big windows and sliding glass doors looking into the courtyard. There's a pathway and beds full of tree ferns and palms and all kinds of other non-orchids.

Imagine what you could do with orchids in a space like that!!! :drool: :whew :faint: :water

....you save juice bottles, plastic cups, and other clear plastic containers because you think they can be used for orchid containers.
