Social group for wild orchids

You can find 'wild' orchids in some unlikely 'non - wild' locations! Last spring the tree/shrub beds in the medians of our new parking lot at my Home Depot were full of spiranthes ! I think the landscapers thought I was crazy as I searched through their bags trying to rescue them from the indignity of being pulled out as 'weeds'.

You're not the only one that rescues those 'weeds'. Last spring I noticed that there was a big colony of a Neottia nidus-avis growing in the green spaces of the parking lot of her apartment building. One day when I went to visit I was shocked to see workers pulling all of them up like vulgar weeds! Poor orchids! After they left replanted all the mangled root 'bulbs' I could find.

Su Mori is a small scale travel organisation on Sardinia (Italy) that aims the traveller to discover the Sardinian natural and cultural heritage.
From the 18th until the 25th of April 2009 we organize an orchid holiday. The programme will be lead by our English speaking guide, Luigi Usai. Besides being able to show the hidden and relatively unknown orchid spots, he is also able to explain the interconnectivity between the geology, specific natural environment and culture of Sardinia.
