I may need to do some major work to cut the bottom off my carts under my vandas to make room for the height. They sure have added a lot of height in a little over one year.

That is a job which I will need help with. Where to find help??????????

Marilyn
Marilyn, it is wrapped around with clear shower curtains which I got from Target. The top portion is open to allow the heat and the air to move out.

Thank you all for nice compliments. One problem I have is that I don't have many plants in bloom. BTW, I forgot to tell you all that I hand-water them every week. Although I spend approx 2 hours to do so, I call it a therapy. It does not bother me a bit.

Ross, I will take your advise.

Hi Naoki ,

Fifty degrees is ok, but not much lower than that for vandas, except for very short periods of time. I do usually turn my fan off at night when it gets down below 55, so long as the plants are dry. If it has been a damp cloudy day and things are still a little wet, I leave it on down to the 50 degree mark.

In your case, with the plants indoors, I wouldn't worry too much, so long as it doesn't drop below 50 for more than a few hours. Your plants will benefit more from the circulating air than from any potential damage caused by the cool temps.

I hope this helps!

Thank you, David. I was a bit nervous about the low temp next few day since the weather men were talking about record low "high" temparature - 30 or less during the day. However, it did not happen.
