Wow! It sounds like you are already getting really good deals. Congrats! It took me a couple years to get the guts to really shop around and ask for deals. I know a local guy now who gets beautiful orchids and he always gives me a couple dollars off the sticker price. I love him!

so heres my experience.... home depot dose not own any of their plants they are all on consignment, so the only way they are going on clearance or discount is if the vendor puts them there... i have yet to find discounts at home depot. lowes on the other hand is constantly putting all the orchids with no flowers on clearance. i have picked up close to 15 plants in the last 2 weeks all under 5 dollars. if you take them to the garden dept register when they are not busy you can barter with them... and look for the ones that have the smashed clay pots....lol.... great price talk down point.... most of the plants i have got from lowes were between $1 and $3. most around the $1 mark. now that being said.... most of the plants were in bad shape. all packed in sphagnum. and i mean packed. most of the plants roots rotted badly. so it is a gamble, but i enjoy nursing things back to life. here are a few pics of the rescues.
