Default Wally World Rescues

I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon, and found myself wandering into the garden section... I was looking at the few chids they had there...for the most part they looked really sad... ...in fact there were several that needed to just .

As I was standing there deciding if I really wanted to take a chance on rescuing any, the clerk approached me with an offer I couldn't refuse...any orchid was "sale priced"...more like death priced at just $2.

And so after picking through the dried out pots and making decisions, I settled on these three not too shabby looking guys (or gals). They'd been cleaned up at the time the photo was taken.

Two of them are Max. tenuifolia (one of these actually has a label that reads Oncidium Maxillaria, which doesn't exist). The third plant is labeled Dtps. Taisuco Roseherz x Dtps. New Cinderella. I looked both of these Dtps. crosses up in AQ Plus, and discovered that they are both phals. Oh well, at least they will be spared their last death throws in the Wally World dumpster. I'll be sure to post pics when they bloom in the spring.

$2 a pop, I'd have taken them home too. Looks like you have 2 maxillarias and a phal. You'll have to post when they bloom .Way to go

Great deal! My Maxies just quit blooming a bit ago. The entire room smelled of coconuts.......it was wonderful! Looks like you have your new babies cleaned up and ready to grow.

What a sweet deal. You're going to be smelling coconuts next summer! Ooooh, Pina coladas at your place, then!

Enjoy!
