Near the ranger station there is a bulletin board and a mail box with maps of the strand. But just encase its about half way in and there is a large parking area there. East main trail parallels Jane's Scenic trail but goes to the NNE a bit. There's no traffic on that trail and your more likely to see wildlife. I'm not sure if the gate is marked.

Had a great time yesterday. Water up to our waist. Too cold for our family jewels. We did see a lot of clam shell orchids and I mean a lot, all in bloom. It was a great day. I'll post some pics in a few.

what a trip?????????I can hardly wait for the H2O to take OFF,, whens that dave(hiker) soon,,?? is there water in the FL. Trail or its nice and dry ?? did you visit that cigarella orchid ??? The dry season is Feb., March, or April. The area of the Fl Trail we hiked is bone dry. Not the same area where the cigar orchids are. You really need to come with us someday and spend the night out there. There is nothing like waking up when your already 5 to 10 mile in the Everglades.
