Should I complain?
Hopefully this is the correct forum to post this in. I wasn't sure if I should put it under vendor feedback but I just need some advice right now.
On July 30th I received a psychopsis that I purchased off of ebay. I won't say who it is but several people on here have spoken highly of this vendor so I wasn't too worried. Well when I received it was pretty poorly packed so of course the spike broke (no biggie) and all the potting medium was out of the pot. The roots were dried out and crunchy but not from the short trip. I received it Wed., it was sent out Monday.
I pretty much was forced to repot and now it looks horrible. I've lost a few leaves and it is getting worse. I'm thinking I probably waited too long to write this place and complain. I should of wrote them as soon as I received it but I was holding out hope that it would recover. Now I'm not so sure. It only has 2 leaves left and those don't even look good. I'm used to receiving junky orchids but I spent sort of a lot (for me) on this one. It's been on my wishlist for awhile and now I'm really kicking myself for buying it off of ebay when I could of gotten it from Parkside or something.
Soooo, I just wanted to get some advice on what I should do. Just forget about it since it's been a couple weeks now, or write and complain? I haven't left feedback yet.... TIA!!!

You know what they say about hindsight....so at this point let's not go back about what you should of or could of done..... Since there are some leaves still on the plant, I'd take some digital pics and send off a "firm" respectful letter with pics including all what you have said above...'send Monday...got Wednesday....crunchy roots....etc' you get the picture and I'd ask for a replacement, since "You paid big bucks and expected better from this vendor". Worst case, they'll tell you "tough"

I agree with Doc, best case, they'll say sorry we're sending you a new one. But if you don't say anything it's guaranteed you won't get a thing.

I agree!! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you get any flack for waiting to contact them about it, just let them know that you were hoping it would improve with a repotting, but it has declined instead. Unless you know it was you that killed it (and in this case, it does not sound like it was you!!) always contact the vendor about the situation. Let us know what happens!!

I'm with you guys also. Sarah I think you should email and say something, tell them how it arrived - get it off your chest if nothing else.
If you don't ask, you'll never know. ASK Sarah
Good luck whatever you decide!

The first thing I would do were this my purchase is contact the seller. Mistakes happen but the sign of a good seller is how mistakes are handled. Allow the seller to work with you.
If there's no resolution, or the seller refuses to make good on the transaction, leave negative feedback, and be detailed about it. Sellers can no longer leave retaliatory negative feedback so you are safe.

Thank you so much everyone! That's pretty much what I thought I should do but I needed that extra push. I'm pretty wimpy and shy so I'm always slow to complain about stuff. But as I was watering the 'chids yesterday I noticed that it's leaves were turning brown. So then I started to get upset all over again. I waited so long to get one and now I have a half dead plant to nurse back to health. I really have bad luck!
I'm at work right now but when I get home I'll email the seller as was suggested. I will keep you guys updated if and when I get a reply back. Thanks again!

I agree with what JK said about working with the vendor. Making the vendor aware of the situation and giving him a chance to rectify it is the repectful way to handle things...you catch more flies with honey than vinegar! He may be totally unaware of what an employee did and I'm sure he doesn't want "bad press" from any orchid customer!

I hope you have better luck than I did.
I was sent a very crappy plant from someone I never ordered from before. I took pictures the day it arrived and sent them an e-mail. I was sent a very short message. 'Sorry you didn't like the plant'. No comment on the pictures I sent. I was given a return # and I returned it 2 weeks ago asking what they intended to do about it. Nothing yet.

Any reputable vendor will want to know there was a problem with the plants you ordered. What they do with that information is what shows what kind of vendor they are.
True, the complaint should have been made as soon as you saw you were unhappy but now that moment has passed and now we just hope for the best outcome.
Post some pics of your plant, maybe somebody here can help you along with it
