Total burn out in the everglades

Mike your really starting to worry me. Sounds like you were getting dehydrated. It is extremely hot in Aug out there and you need plenty of water and you need to be well hydrated before you start. That place is wonderful but not worth getting hurt. If your going to plan a long trip you need to be with someone. Please! As you know my work makes it impossible to go during the week days but you know I'm always willing to go on the weekend.

That's nuts hiking in the Everglades in August! We like the Everglades in the wintertime. I've been on a class field trip(botany!) where we hiked hip deep waters in the Everglades, and the instructor was kind enough to point out the area(now underwater) where gators usually hung out.

Also, I've heard that King Cobras have become established in the Everglades, so that's one more thing to be aware of. One more example of exotics in the wrong place.

Thats the first I have heard this! Are you sure don't mean Burmese pythons?

I'm pretty sure it was Cobras, but maybe it was just a few sightings and not full breeding colonies like the pythons have.

I don't know about Kings but there are reports of cobra colonies out there. Most likely monocled or some more common variety. I'd be more worried about the water moccasins than cobras

i've been hit sideways lately, this world is a duzzer anyways I figured out what went wrong Im going to take another lick at it the place I was flhiker was so isolated that when I reached it I knew its potential for the almighty ghost orchid or the leaping frog what took me 3 plus hours one way will probably be 45 minutes I believe I just went in basically what everyone might call it HEAD ON
