Default Latest purchases

I'm winding down since space is really getting tight, both in the tank and the window box. I'm trying to migrate to a couple other areas, but slowly.

For the tank:

Was given a Round-leaved sundew by my neighbor who is into insectivorous plants. It went onto top shelf directly under the lights. Purchased a Venus fly-trap which I am repotting into sphagnum today. That is a bit lower on a side shelf.

Purchased two new Dracs from Andy's: D. velutina var. xanthina and D. posadarum. Also got a replacement Angraecum monticola since one of mine has been determined to be a flower bud blaster. I told the guys: either put out or your gone! This one hasn't and is gone!

Also purchased two new Paphs for upstairs grow window: Paph appletonianum and Paph delenatii.

Purchased three new Butterworts from Cascade Carnivores. All three are hybrids of Mexican species so should tolerate the warm, wet conditions in the tank. I'm on a hunt for the elusive Shore Flies that are so pesky. Saw one on the new Venus Fly Trap, but it managed to elude the trigger hairs, so still lives

Pictures later.

Ross....did you really get rid of your first Angraecum monticola? Mine has bloomed for me....but for some reason I don't think it likes my orchidarium....the newest leaf is small and the roots aren't doing much....it is frustrating I know....after a few months I have a new leaf growing so hopefully it will get bigger then the previous one, and I have a new growth or a spike emerging...not sure which it is at this time.

You know we will be looking forward to pictures of your new purchases!

Nice Ross waiting on the photo's.
I agree with you with dumping, there's only so much time you spend getting an orchid to bloom for you. I do feel that space is always an issue when it comes down to it.

BRING on the pics!

Becca, one of the new guys (hasn't posted since he joined) sounds like quite an expert and told me that some of the monticolas just habitually bolt the flower buds. Mine is huge. Leaves 3-4" long and really long vibrant leaves. But I don't have space for non-performers. That's what I told these guys couple nights ago

Check out end of this post. Think he may be origianally from South Africa with that name. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-everyone.html

Hey thanks for that link Ross....I haven't had a lot of time to read a lot of the threads on here due to time, I am glad you pointed that one out! I am glad that my monticola doesn't or hasn't bolted the flower buds...it is such a beauty, but like I said the only down fall is of mine is that it doesn't seem to like my orchidarium for one reason or another....I guess I need to play around with some lighting for it and see if it helps. P.S....if you have to toss anything...I have a huge garbage can your stuborn monticola would just love at my place

Maybe I'll do that! I wonder if the fan-thing is your problem? I had moved mine out of the breeze, but notta. I would be happy to send mine to you just to give it a message - perform or you go to Becca!
