Shadecloth Information
I hope this is the right spot to post this for you all. Someone asked me the other day if shade cloth had different ratings for colour......well here are the figures provided to me:
Black - Sold As = 50% U.V. Rating = 50% Actual Shade = 50%
Black - Sold As = 70% U.V. Rating = 70% Actual Shade = 70%
Green - Sold As = 50% U.V. Rating = 50% Actual Shade = 45%
Green - Sold As = 70% U.V. Rating = 70% Actual Shade = 61%
White - Sold As = 50% U.V. Rating = 50% Actual Shade = 28%
White - Sold As = 70% U.V. Rating = 70% Actual Shade = 40%
If these figures are correct the shade cloth rating is actually the UV rating. Therefore you need to be careful which one you use for its shade rating. I currently use the 70% white during the cooler months as it lets through more useable light but I will probably add the 50% on top of that for an extra 28% for my masdevallia's and slippers (70% real shade).
Interesting huh?
