Smile Glad September is here!

Hi Folks,

I haven't posted much so I thought I would chime in on what is going on in Old River, TX. I have several orchids blooming and all are breathing a sigh of relief after the heat of July and August. My phals are doing better since I put more fans up and I'm watering with rain water instead of our local water. I think there was too much salt in our local water and it was causing the phals to rot.

I'm going to Natchez, MS this weekend to a Orchid Sale at Stewart Orchids. They are Liquidating their entire collection. Approximately 80,000 plants. We are going to buy orchids and enjoy the area and its history. It is suppose to be a tour of homes this weekend.

Just checking in!

Lisa Holmes

Lisa, have a safe trip and do take some photo's, would love to be there unfortunately my schedule will not allow a long road trip, have a fun time. Yes, rain water is an excellent way to water the plants and not so much around here in the last few weeks so I have had to resort to setting the water bottles out again 2-3 days prior to watering.

Sounds like it's gonna be a great weekend!

Rainwater is best for the 'chids...too bad I haven't seen any in 2 weeks with none in sight! The rainbarrel's been empty and I've resorted to my RO system again!

The coolness of Sept has lowered my basement temps and I have Phals spiking here and there - nice!

What is the scoop on Stewart's, they are shutting down the orchid business completely?.....has it been a slow death spiral since being purchased by Agristar, Inc? Have a great weekend there.
