Video: First time I saw an orchid on TV, Mama's Family (1988)

From one of my favorite shows as a kid, Mama's Family 1988 S04E23 'Bed and Breakdown'. This was the first time I saw an orchid on TV. In it, Mrs. Thornberry refers to her 'Paphiopedilum orchid' which was actually a Phalaenopsis candy-stripe hybrid. I would love to know the backstory on this episode and how the orchid made its way into the plot. There must've been an orchid lover on the production team?

I note the orchid doesn't seem to be carrying very many leaves. Likely improper fertilizer ratios. And a very inexperienced orchid grower... seeking cooler temperatures for this one?
