Default Unexpected places

Many years ago I bought the best ever 8"-9" SH pots at Odd Lots in two stylish colors, blue and white, with the word POPCORN molded into them (bought about 20 for $1 each iirc) but I would never have thought that Dollar Tree would be the place in my town to go for 2" and 3" clay pots until I searched on line and found that craft stores (and Dollar Tree) carry them. My farm and garden neighborhood nursery had novelty 1" pots for $.80 each but nothing bigger until 4". Lowes had nothing clay, Walmart was bare, Rural King was also bare but I could have bought chickens and rabbits. So make sure you explore all your local stores for possible orchid supplies.

We had a Pat Catan's = Micheal's. I drove to it on the same day and found it gone/folded. There has been a lot of turnover around here in the past 10 yrs and it has been five since I last went to that end of that shopping center. Big Lots moved out and then moved back but across the street. It just occurred to me, Dollar Tree is in their old location so I got the two sets of pots from the same retail space fifteen years apart.

This is the tale of man thoroughly perplexed by the best place to purchase a pot. Once found and purchased and then again in the exact same place 15 years later. The place, someplace. An unexpected place to be exact. Geographically located, in The Twilight Zone.

It was Twilight Zone strange and creepy, too! At 10:30 AM all the lights but the emergency exit lights were off in the store and the double doors were standing wide open (creepy). It's a mostly white Trumpy town with mostly females manning the registers at any store and two black guys in masks were hanging out at the registers (bored to death and talking about their kids) very grateful for exact change because of Covid economics.

I went to a dollar store and bought 80 plastic tubs and totes of varying capacity - two to maybe 16 quarts/liters - to use as large S/H containers going forward. This was days before they upped prices to $1.25.

Dolly, I have everything I need now. I had some bad root seedlings I had to trim up and repot and I like packed sphagnum in little clay pots for sad babies. I now have 1" 2" and 3" clay pots, and just enough sphagnum to do the last one.

I'm trying to downsize a bit. I have lots of those little clay pots so going forward let me know.
