The gases evolved during the eruption caused some corrosion in the laps in our catchment tank leaving telltale staining in the paint covering the lower portion.

I finally repainted the tank.
I ended up using a lighter color.
Didn't like it, so instead of repainting again, or making a screening planting, M'Lady had a gal come in and paint a mural on the tank to make it less noticeable.
I was dubious, but it seems to do the job nicely.

Had a wind/rain storm last weekend for 3 days, lots of flooding, and power outages in the area from trees being blown down.
A car traveling on the highway was hit by a falling tree.

I had posted earier [ And More Feril Vandas ] about the feral Vanda in a tree.
That tree was blown down by that storm.

Photo #3
I had been worried about danger to my vehicle and the house if the tree fell.
All was missed and came out well.
Now I've got to figure out what I'm gonna do with it to save the Vanda.

The mural is almost like camouflage. Sorry about the tree, hope you can save the Vandas.

voyager, glad you are okay! Hawaii has been a topic on the weather channels I watch for a while now. First, the blizzard warnings for the mountains, and now parts of the state getting 8+ inches of rain in one day, and the resulting mudslides and flooding, and of course as you mention, trees blowing down. Good grief, that's a lot to endure in a short period.

I love the mural on the tank; it blends nicely with the surroundings. And I do hope you can save the Vanda!
