Amazon Florist (Taiwan)
So I've been following this company a bit recently
*Link removed*
I know it says page not found but it should come up and you can view their photo's
It seems to be a brand new company that has the biggest orchid flasking lab I have ever seen. It's the size of a warehouse.
Their name is Amazon Florists.
Do you think they have anything to do with Amazon the delivery company?
I would be interested if they are breeding plants for Amazon to sell or if they have nothing to do with the other company and it is an unfortunate name as it might cause copyright issues if the other company notice they have the same name.
Maybe someone knows more than I do. I think it is a market that the delivery company Amazon would be well suited to fill - the plants are not actually grown by Amazon but a professional lab that looks very impressive.
I'm kinda hoping in a few years time Amazon will be the next big orchid vendor on the block but I might be completely off and it is just a Taiwanese nursery with the same name.

Hmmm…. When I click that link, I get a Facebook page saying the page isn’t available, and searching turns up only an individual by that name, with no info given.

Wow. That is quite cool. If it is related to Amazon, I hope they will do other types of orchids, too. Phal-type Dendrobiums, Oncidiums, Cattleyas....

well, i would think that if it was related to azon the delivery co, then they would have the logo with the name. you know how those companies are with branding and such. sort of sad if it is related though. like it is somewhat sad to me that one of the german nurseries was taken over by ecuagenera. it’s just a personal thing that it saddens me to see us living in a big box world and mom and pop shops are drying up.
hopefully that’s not a political statement, i don’t want to break any rules, it’s just a personal opinion/observation.

I feel you tmoney but I think that was a really good move personally.
Instead of Roellke closing shop, they have actually expanded.
You won't see it yet but you can now order from Ecuagenera (in america, check their website) and they will send you the plants from Germany!
No cites, no phytes no hassle.
Roellke was a great nursery but in the last year I was not impressed. It was porbably because they were closing shop... They were sending out rubbish at times.
I am hoping new management from such an experience company will get their affairs in order.
I don't like to be too critical but it was quite noticeable that they didn't put the same care into their last plants I ordered than I'm used to.
So now you can order from ecuagenera, it might be a bit of adjustment period - I don't know if their european distribution is set up fully yet.
But in time the selection in Germany will be much bigger as a result.
This will be varieties that other shops will not have. So I think it is a good thing

Amazon Flowers Visit
I just visited them. It is a complete operation/TC lab, that supplies growers.
As I understand the owner used to have a Orchid TC-lab on the mainland. Moved to Taiwan and restarted the operation there. The owner is well known regionally.
From their lab they supply allot of the local growers (Houbi district, Tainan), but also world wide.
I was impressed. I was there to discuss Plant Automation/robotics.
