yellow leaves on phal
ok yep there are lots of threads about yellow leaves on phals. Fingers crossed those days are behind me but I like to check out video's online, still not seen any updates on the Orchid room in 5 months now by the way.
Anyway if someone asked on here what had caused their recent yellowing leaves would you look at the plant and say yep that is window cleaner damage?
No? Neither would I to be honest but apparently it can happen

I find that very hard to believe, since nothing was sprayed on the orchids. Also, she says something about the rest looking fine, but some on the next shelf down don't look much different to me... unless it's a reflection and I'm not seeing it correctly.

hey WW, you might be right, wh knows. She is just now for the first time growing in a cabinet and she will see it takes phals a while to adjust to this new environment anyway.
I hadn't even looked too closely to the shelf below but you are right, any phals close to the cabinet door got affected.
So why near the cabinet door?
That's where the ammonia was being sucked to through the door cracks.
I looked at the link she provided in the video descrption and it says that half a cup of ammonia is enough to be toxic to plants and aquatic life in 100 million gallons of water.
Now it evaporates within 24 hours but still seems pausible to me.
Who knows, Danny will provide updates in time I'm sure. I just feel a bit bad for her if it did affect more than just 3.
I am still bummed about the plant I lost over christmas lol

Well Shadeflower, that is one beautiful phal. Is the picture really representative of the bloom color? Fantastic. Its name please?
You also made me curious OG's window cleaner, and I thought about it probably longer than need be. I used to raise German roller canaries, and had a crew of them in a glass aviary with vented back. Used to spray and wipe down the inside of the glass with them in it. Have done same with a 75 gallon aquarium turned into a terrarium/pond with local frogs.
Made me curious enough to look up the formula for the window cleaner she's using. Couldn't find any Ajax window cleaner with ammonia in it. When she decides to do a follow-up, let me know.
Meanwhile, get those flowers out of there and clean the glass. You know when it's all clean and shiny you'll love it. Kind of like cleaning windows that haven't been cleaned in ages.

Let's play guessing games, I'll go with violacea on the bottom and a very nice Equalacea (equestris x violacea) as the top right plant

Your guesses are likely better than mine would be. I've never done much in the Phal species arena. I had a Equalacea a long time ago, but gifted it on once it bloomed. It was more of a pinkish color than the violet/blue and not what I wanted.

good guesses on the varieties.
Both left ones are violacea's, I've already shown these sometime this year - Probably on their last flowers for the year and the right one is my purple martin blue just starting to flower.
The colors are fairly accurate. It's taken under a white full spectrum LED + sunlight which does make the blue pop a bit more but this is my bluest variety and it smells great too.
I'll try to get a group shot of my main ones in flower next week to compare the color. Just waiting on a couple more to open up so fingers crossed the others keep flowering till then.

I should call myself Mr OutofFocus but I can't be bothered to get a better picture (it can be harder than it looks, hats off to the good photographers out there).
The last show of the year.
