Oh My! That is past scary Fuerte Rav! I'll take a tornado over this any old day. One of those "stick with what you know" scenarios. Heck, I can't swim and can barely keep my head above water when I dog paddle. I do float well.
Wish I had some helpful advice, but no tsunami activity here in Kansas.

PS I pulled up your island to compare where it was in conjunction with the seismic activity. I guess the only good thing that can be said is you're about as far away as you can be, without leaving the island.

does sound scary but I read the wikiedia report and it says the tsunami travels away from the origin at the speed of a jet, picking up force and momentum as it goes.
In this case hitting the coast of Africa.
I know that owuld not reasssure me but even if a tsunami were to hit would it cause massive destruction travelling outwards or would it cause maximum destruction at the origin?

According to this model I could expect waves of 100-150M within 5 minutes! Doesn't exactly give us time to react to a warning, but, my house is at 151M above sea level so my best case scenario is some good pics!
Worst case, I could end up on my surf board on the eastern coast of America!
I just really, really hope it doesn't happen, it doesn't bear thinking about the people nearer and lower.
The people who live on La Palma island in the area of the ridge, Cumbre Vieja, have been advised to have a small bag packed with medicines, important docs and a mobile phone and charger. Evac plans are being advised in case of need.
The quakes are ongoing and the ridge has grown about 11cm in height in the last few days and moved slightly sideways. Amazes me how they can measure these things to such a small degree!

Well, the volcano erupted this afternoon. So far there has been no slip of the ridge 🤞
The evacuations started this morning so I'm hoping there have been no fatalities.

looks impressive.
Glad you are ok.
the comments are all over the place. Talking about Bitcoin on a lava video chat, what is wrong with some people.
I'd take the lava being released as a good sign. Fingers crossed nothing more happens.
nother one showing the eruption

Florida people, I am sorry to hear you have activity and whatever else comes with that.
@Fuerte, .,Jesús, I can handle hurricanes, but crazy, waves and volcano eruptions are way too fearful. I am going to check the news, since I've been out of the loop.
BTW, not dangerous to humans, and not comparable with any of the above, but weather-related, we've been having a persistent rain full of Sahara dirt and I have been running around covering the plants. All the water I collected was brown like Cocoa.

Whats the latest update?
I see some houses have been lost, roads are cut off from lava rivers and it sounds like a war zone over there right now.

In the cold light of day it appears that just 2 of the small vents have erupted so there could be far worse to come if the main volcano blows.
The lava flows have slowed to approx 700m per hour. It was suggested that the foremost one would reach the sea at around 8pm our time (10.30pm now) but I haven't seen any reports/pics of that happening. The fear there is the poisonous gases that will probably be produced.
About 100 homes/fincas (small farms) have been lost, a number of roads have been breached, trees etc.
The lava flow is about 6m high.
I'm not sure what just happened but on the livestream I'm watching there was an enormous white flash around the red stuff going into the air - perhaps a released gas explosion.
Several thousand people have been evacuated, 500 of them tourists who have been moved to the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
A number of local inter island flights have been cancelled.
The best news so far is that there don't appear to be any human fatalities.
Social media has gone stupid with many irrelevant, and sometimes nasty, comments from all over the world. A major theme seems to be that the eruption is actually on the island of Mallorca, in the Mediterranean Sea, rather than La Palma in the Atlantic Ocean. (Mallorca is Sade's home and has an city called Palma de Mallorca which I think is what has caused the initial confusion, but people won't believe it when they are corrected.)
What I found quite amazing, and wonderful, was the live feed I had playing had families going about their normal social interactions - you could hear women discussing what to cook for dinner and children playing and laughing in the background of the eruption noise - just another day!
Luckily the prevailing wind takes all the smoke/ash out into the Atlantic Ocean rather than over the other islands, lets hope the wind doesn't change.
