Gary Schreiber - RIP
I'm sad to report that Gary Schreiber of Schreiber's Orchids/Yvonne's Orchid Fancy in Ontario has left us, Sunday morning, April 6th. For those of you familiar with Gary, you'll remember him as the bearded grizzly cheerful man who was always generous with his advice and opinions, piping up during the show table showings about some catteleya parentage or the cultural conditions of a paph.
I have always received excellent plants from Gary and Yvonne, and I have benefited from their sage advice many times both at the sales table as well as during society meetings. Although I never got to know them too well, I do know that this man will be sorely missed in the orchid growing world. Hopefully Yvonne will find the peace to make it through this difficult and trying time.

Calvin, thank you for letting us know of Mr Schreiber's passing. It sounds like he was a good man and will be missed.

OMG, Calvin, I am so surprised by the news a year later after you posted it. I haven't been to SOOS in the past few years so I had no clue what had happened to Mr. Schreiber. I still have the orchids which I bought from him.

It's nice to see you here too OP! Haven't seen you for so long! Hope everything's well.
I didn't see this post until today.. but Yvonne did tell me about Gary's passing last year. So sad. I have been happy with every single one of the plants I got from them, and Gary's been always helpful in finding that 'special' plant in his greenhouse not listed on their website.
