Just stopping in to say "Hi"

I haven't been around for a while. I started a new Master's degree, and got about halfway through and decided it was not for me. Don't like it. So I went to the School staff and was invited to work for a Doctorate. I think it will do more for me than another Master's. The Doctorate is a Doctor of Management, so it is not one of the heavy experimental Ph.D.

I had to reduce my orchid collection severely. Right now I have only the hardiest of the plants. Sadly, I will be keeping my collection to only small sized orchids for the time being, and probably less than 10. Strangely enough one of the plants doing the best is Cattleya walkeriana. Some people have problems with that one. I have found that that thing will not die no matter what, but as of yet, it has not bloomed for me. Plant-wise I have concentrated more on my outdoor garden which is mostly irises and daylilies.

Lastly, I started to produce more artwork, (animal and wildlife metal -- bronze, aluminum, etc.) and have been spending most of my time either on school work or sculpture.

Sounds good over there optimist. I might not have encountered you before - but good to hear that you have an adequate selection of hobbies and activities to keep you busy, aside from outside work. Art and orchids - is a great combination.

Hey South Park, you be safe over there or should I say down there in Queenland. New Mexico is awaiting a surge but my county has only 7 out of 800+ viral cases. We are rural but still dense in population.

I have finished helping all our assisted livings getting them mask and supplies with help from fire departments and now a church, So I am hanging up my nursing cap, and staying home from now on. Delivered the last masks yesterday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for popping in to say hi! I think a lot of people go through a similar situation with their orchids at one point or another, before coming back to the hobby when time/money/whatever-was-missing is available again.

I'm not sure how the US system works, but don't you need a Master's degree before you can start a PhD? In most (and probably all) EU countries you can't get around that. I had to do a Master's before my PhD.

HAD TO LOOK THIS UP FOR I DID NOT KNOW...but here is the webs answer for what it is worth.

Short answer, for the most part, YES you can, but there are always few exceptions! There is lot of confusing among students that you need to have Masters or have done MS for applying to PhD. But, the reality is it is in fact a good idea to apply for PhD directly after B. tech or Bachelors degree.May 26, 2019

I am not out in hands on. Retired 6 yrs ago, but working to get mask and gloves to assisted living. I am not leaving my home and delivered the last mask, that others are making yesterday.
As our surge of cases arrive soon, I am seeing a feeling a panic in everyone everyone I have seen or who are asking for more diy mask. I am scared, for every country, every state and especially for our elders here in my county. Not for myself, I am healthy. But my 55 yr old daughter has the virus in Calif, She is in quarentee and has been for 5 weeks. Not as ill as others, and in close contact with her MD. I feel safe as long as I stay home and take precautions. which I am doing as of today. little joke. sorry. Thanks South Park. I will pass the word on from down under to our health care workers. One world, one nation trying to survive.

I started "another" Master's degree. I already have a M.Ed. which is a Master's in Education. I want to do more college teaching than "Business" jobs. I am mostly interested in worker's Co-ops and other more democratic work environments.

So your understanding of the pathway is correct.
