Hi DC!!

The tag (when I first got the orchid) was Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown 'Sweet Afton'. But the flower turns out to be not 'Sweet Afton'.

A long-time grower of lots of 'Sweet Afton' (and is also a long time breeder and hybridiser) mentioned to me he had seen an orchid flower like this one a long time ago, which came from a significant number of 'Sweet Afton' that he purchased (when 'Sweet Afton' first became available) - from Stewarts Inc (an orchid breeding and selling company from the U.S. that isn't around anymore - incredibly unfortunately!).

It's certainly not Sweet Afton. So I'm going with the tag and trusting that it is a mutated Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown 'Sweet Afton' (- so no longer 'Sweet Afton').

This orchid's previous owner is one of Australia's many super enthusiast orchid growers - an outstanding person (in personality and orchid-growing experience). The orchid actually belonged to his brother, who isn't around with us anymore.

DC ..... I ended up tagging this orchid as Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown 'Sweet Afton m. Splash'.

That Calypso bulbosa nothovar. kostiukiae on page #1 of this thread is one of the prettiest and cutest flowers I've ever seen.

I'll share a photo of an orchid that I like a lot - which is Rth. Dal's Emperor 'Michelle'. It is a mini-catt type orchid. This one is a compact plant with very nice yellow-coloured flowers. Some sunlight in the background for some extra effects heheh.

I love this pure Yellow cat. This color and dark purple are my favorite orchids. I only have the dark purple phal left blooming. You may have just tempted me into ordering a Cat. I only have three other types, Vanda, Zyn, and a couple of Onc that have dropped their blooms.
How long do the Vanda and Zyn seedlings take to bloom. They are growing fast, from one inch to three in the vandas and a few inches growth, maybe three or four inches in the Zyn, and I have only had them about six weeks.
Stay safe and healthy, south park.

Thanks Early for mentioning your favourite orchid flower colours are yellows and dark purple. I'm a big fan of purple and/or violet colours.

I missed a chance of acquiring a phal last year, which had such a grand majestic deep purple colour. Velvety look - very majestic. It got my attention - not just the colour, but the flower shape, texture etc. It was a no-name phal from big-name groceries supermarket. They often have various phals for sale, but this one seemed out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately, the spur-of-the-moment buying mode didn't kick in, which was seriously disappointing this time. When I DID decide to go back the next day - purposely to buy it, it was no longer there. A photo of that flower would definitely have been posted here if I hadn't made my 'mistake' (in not buying it when I had that one-time chance).

There is one nice thing though - the memory of having seen it, and encountered it!!!!
