Well Rbarata, from the looks of that beach perhaps they should have started there.

77 people attended my wife's band concert last night. We had lots of room to space ourselves out...

I was going to do my annual Ecuagenera preorder for pick up at the SEPOS show in a couple weeks, but saw the writing on the wall. The show hasn't been cancelled yet, but with the progression of infection here in PA I fear it's just a matter of time.

in NM we are doubling cases every day and they have only had enough test to do 127 people per NMDOH and CDC. I am helping an elderly friend, who is older than me, go pick up her things from the car she totaled wed night. She lives close with a 92 yr old, not well man. In a crisis like this, neighbors help neighbors when possible. It is the nurse in me. I want to check her out, she is in pain from airbag.

John, I read elsewhere that SEPOS has officially been scrubbed.

Authorities already advised everyone to avoid going to the beach and also warned that if this won't happen, prohibition will be enforced with its legal consequences.
Things are now becoming more critical with many limitations to everyday life: limitation on the nº of people simultaneously at the same location, working from home, schools closed, turistic places shutdown, supermarkets with reduced working times, etc, etc.
Hopefully now they'll start to understand.

Where was that Ray? I've checked a few times but didn't find anything about it being cancelled at this point. Just today I heard my night class is cancelled for the next 2 weeks, so it's not surprising.

Hopefully not just Spain, but the USA is starting to understand. I have a very good friend who owns a foster kids visitation with bio parents. This week a child came in ill with symptoms, and a couple attending her parenting classes who need to complete them to get their kids back by the end of the month. After several months of not having them. My friend, a very compassionate woman and mother, let the couple who were both ill, stay in the class so they could get their kids back. I told her NO NO NO. You have to stop this. And her mother wanted to take the 6 yr old to the movies today. I again said NO. She called the department of Child welfare, to tell them no more sick kids will be allowed, and she then called her mother and said no movie. I have cancelled all appointment in the next month except one that is essential, cancelled everyone coming to my home to visit, making calls instead of visiting an 85 yr old friend who totaled her car two days ago. And I made calls to everyone on my contact list to encourage them to take this very serious. \

OK for now, Off my soap box. I worked in Mexico city after an earthquake killed 20 to 30,000 residents, doctors and nurse in a hospital that collapsed. Worked helping to recover the dead. So I have seen death on large scales. But that is nothing to what is heading into our 2020 pandemic for our world.

Well I've changed my opinion. This started with a post about whether to cancel a show in N. Carolina and I weighed in with a "no cancel". However in light of how things are progressing, I'd cancel. There is a certain amount of hysteria, but behind that is real reason for concern. It doesn't help that our (US) government has done a poor job of leadership on this. Just my humble opinion. The only person I trust is Anthony Fauci. Lots of things are being cancelled around here. Hopefully they will get the test out as promised and we'll have a better idea how bad it is.

If you can, get ahold of the book "The Great Influenza" about the 1918 flu. It compares the outbreak in communities that took precautions seriously with those that didn't. It also is very convincing about the general importance of public health measures. Right after the SARS outbreak in 2003 there was a lot of research into corona viruses (SARS is a closely related coronavirus to COVID-19) but the funding dried up after a few years. Basic research is important!
Anyway enjoy your orchids and shop online.
