Ross, I keep telling you you need a Den. Iki. It's a mini Nigrahirsute. Not only is it cute as can be it has all those tiny black hairs. It's a tiny version of my Den. Frosty Dawn. It's halfway down the page on this site.

Petite Plaisance - Orchid Species, Dendrobium forbesii, Dendrobium falconeri, Dendrobium victoria-reginae, Dendrobium finisterrae, Dendrobium spectabilis, Dendrobium anosmum, Dendrobium gordonii, Dendrobium trigonopus, Dendrobium guerreroi, Dendrobiu

Really a viable candidate, to be sure. I can't seem to find info on its culture. It is hard to find it available anywhere.

Grow it intermediate, bright light (but it won't pout under medium light), a slight pause in watering/fert in late summer early fall. It's evergreen.

Is this correct? I thought most Dendro rests were later in year? What is a "slight pause"? Guess I should ask "what is the watering regime for 'normal watering' period"? You have to know, that this guy falls into the group I have managed kill off most frequently! They can be so evil when they want to.

My slight pause in September was practically non-existant, and I still have 11 blooms to show for it. That being said at least for my plant the pause wasn't that important. Pause would be maybe skip two weeks of watering, or go to every other week for a month. No fert. These don't need a "hard" winter rest like many of the other dens.

Here's a little more info from our sticky in the Dendro forum.

Formosae (Nigrohirsutae Type)
Canelike pseudobulbs, with black hairs on leaf sheaths and pseudobulbs often apparent, leading to the popular name nigrohirsutae. Flowers usually white, up to 4 inches across, two to three together from near the end of the pseudobulb. Long lasting.
Species such as Den. bellatulum, Den. dearii, Den. draconis, Den. formosum, Den. infundibulum, Den. lowii, Den. lyonii, Den. margaritaceum, Den. sanderae and Den. schuetzii.
Culture Intermediate to cool year round, 50 to 60 F nights, maximum 85 F days. Water and fertilize when growing; give a slight short rest (dry) when growth is completed. Keep barely moist until growth starts again.
