Good afternoon, I've recently gone oa Tolumnia binge, 15 hybrids and 6 species. They've arrived mounted on fern, pieces of trees, in small net pots inside of a larger pot, bear root, potted with coarse chunks of bark(3/4-1"), mounted on a slatted plack. What is the best method for growing the Tolumnias?
Search for ES's post on DVOS speaker recently. It will tell you more than we can easily type.
That said, I grow mine in small bark and clay pots. I water 2-3x a week. Probably give them too much light, they're red. I adore them and they are fast becoming a favorite but mounting... nope...not for me.
For me, mounted on a cedar slab in the bright sun, watered every morning. Unfortunately, I've had to bring them in off the deck for the winter, so it'll be a struggle to keep them happy indoors.
Use the search feature in the top maroon menu and search on the terms Tolumnia and Desert Valley Orchid Society. I posted lecture notes I took when a Tolumnia vendor spoke to our club a month ago.
