ID help - No ID? Wildcat?

I purchased this at Cal-Orchid in Santa Barbara. The tag said Wildcat. 99.9% certain this is not a Wildcat. An AOS judge agreed it is not; when I sent the photos to Cal-Orchid (it was purchased out of bloom) they said it must have been mislabelled when they bought it. (Is that ?)

So - does this look like some mysterious intergeneric to you experts? Perhaps some extremely rare and valuable species plant that has magically fallen into my lap? () Anyone vote for Wildcat (it's not, right?)

Not a huge fan of NOIDs, if I can't track down an ID for this I may donate it.

I would just stick with calling an Oncidium intergeneric and grow it like similar plants. Attractive flower though.

If you're being 100% honest with yourself, no matter how sure you are that this is hybrid A or hybrid B, the fact that it's mislabeled and the the vendor is unsure about the ID means any identification you happen upon is a guess, and the plant will basically always be a NOID.

However, I think even some of the most obsessive amongst us, in terms of nomenclature, often find room in our hearts for one or two NOIDs that we simply can't part with. If you enjoy the plant, then that's really what matters, right?

That being said, this could be a Colmanara Jungle Monarch (depending on the taxonomist it's now considered to be Oncidium Jungle Monarch). I believe there are several popular clones and of course you could have a clone from a seedling population as well.

Oh yeah, I have noids. I actually go on ebay and purchase "lost tag" orchids because I know I can get one for 1/2 off of the regular price. It's fun seeing what you end up with anyway. I have 3 noid paphs-- all probable bulldog types, but then-- I like bulldog types.

I have plenty of Onc intergenerics. I like them. Maybe if this had several spikes; or more flowers per spike, I'd be more enthused about it. It is nice. And I agree Jungle Monarch is a decent match, probably as good as I'll do, so thanks for the help with that!

I have very limited growing space, so I only keep what I love.

I don't know that I'd be so quick to judge it as not being Wildcat; I think you can safely say that it is not a mericloned plant, but it could well be a seedling...
Consider these OrchidRoots for points of reference...
