Default Interesting spike and root

Orchids do the damndest things to keep us on our toes. At first I was thinking it was a terminal spike and just wasn't able to push through the top leaf since the crown area was very closed, now i'm thinking it's not terminal. And to top it off it has it's very own sidekick; a root straight out the top next to the spike.

What's the strangest you have seen on one of your orchids?

Oops, I just noticed I accidently posted in oncidium alliance. Re direct.

Jkofferdahl often tells me that phals " have a mind of their own." Your right, that is darned strange.
