You can try keeping it on the dry side, see if the rot stops or halts long enough for the immature growth to mature an grow roots, allowing it to be successfully removed.

Mine is a large plant. I twisted the old rotted pbulb off, ( too root bound to cut it out) watered around the edges carefully and sprayed with Phyton 20. Do you have suggestions? Watch it, pitch it? Thoughts? Keep spraying? Lots of beautiful roots...
