Default Tip of Psychopsis flower dying and then regrowth

So as the title says, I have two psychopsis plants which seem to have decided that the last inch or so of cane isn't viable anymore. I'd have started to panic, but they each started a new growth and flowered about an inch or two below.

In the attached picture, the space above isn't dead, but it hasn't flowered either. The other psychopsis had the shoot above the new growth go completely brown so I cut it off.

Any thoughts on what could be happening/wrong?

I don't think there's anything wrong. It's possible that a change in some condition stopped the growth tip, or it could have just essentially bloomed out, but what's happening isn't unusual with Psychopsis. I actually have one in bloom right now that's done the same thing and is quite happy back in bloom. Just enjoy the flowers, take care of the plant, and it'll be fine.

Looks perfectly normal to me. Just don't cut anything that still has green, and wait and see.

I can't see the brown spike very well. It is possible there might still be viable tissue inside, and it might resume flowering.
