Default Weird Looking Blooms

Attached are picks of an oncidium intergeneric hybrid that is blooking a 3 rd time after repotting, but the buds/blooms that are developing are looking weird. Not like what the blooms should look like. Can anybody tell me what's going on? I hope they attached, I always have trouble when I try to attach a pic here

To me it's hard to tell without seeing a "normal" bud. Do you have a picture?

That is very odd. Has the orchid bloomed before? Have you used any chemicals on the plant? Hopefully, this is just a one-time occurrence.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Flowers come in many bizarre shapes and forms, so I wouldn't be surprised to see equally as odd buds.

The only chemicals I have used is orchid fertilizer and an insecticidal soap on the leaves to kill mealy bugs. This is its 3rd time to bloom.

The other two times, I am guessing, this had buds and blooms that were different, normal?

One thing I can say, after many, many years of growing plants, is that plants will occasionally do weird things that they are not supposed to do, for no reason that can be discerned. Sometimes, though, the growing conditions are suspect. If the plant is healthy, the blooms should be normal next time.

Well, enjoy whatever weird thing happens and hope that it will be normal next time.

Keep us updated on this one. Certainly a unique situation.

not knowing what cultivar you have growing, they look normal....blooming 3 times on one fan though, could indicate trouble as you mentioned a battle with mealies....one thing holds true with any plant, not just orchids is: a plant in stress will do ANYTHING in its power to reproduce...they will literally grow themselves to death! if your plant feels threatened, it could add additional stress to itself by abnormal flowering. that's always something you want to have a look at. are you SURE those mealies are gone? did you change media after treatment and cleaning?...just a thought....good luck!
