I need advice!

A friend gifted me with a piece of Macroclinium bicolor from her award winning terrarium at end of the Philadelphia Flower Show.... and the piece is in bloom and has a few roots. So I'm pretty confident I can make a go of it.

Internet research indicates that it should be mounted and the roots disturbed as little as possible going forward.

What do you recommend as a mount substrate - I have a piece of fine/dense tree fern or would this one do well on a Kool-Log which delivers consistent moisture with great root aeration. Is cork a better choice?

All advice welcome! Please!

What a wonderful gift!
I don't grow this so I cannot really advise you. I do agree that if you are going to keep it very humid, mounting seems to work best to keep the roots healthier in a damp, humid environment. As for what type of mount would be best, this, I do not know.

Red face

Carrie, just looked it up and wow. Reminds me of Leptotes or a mini Brassavola. I've had my issues with cork mounts but getting better.Like treefern and would love to try Kool-logs too. This isn't helping,is it?
