When I bought it, the flower spikes were taller than the leaves...and plentiful! It took a very long time to rebloom (I bought it Sept 12, 2006!) and this time, it gave me only two blooms (plus one more bud) on very very short spikes.
I'm posting a pic of what it looked like when I got it and two others showing what it looks like today, in addition to the pic of the bloom which is about 2 inches across!
Does anybody have an idea of what would cause such a thing to happen?
Hi Susanne, The only thought that I have is that, with lower light, leaves and possibly florescence would be leggier, so perhaps you're giving it a lot more light than it had before. I'll be interested to see what other responses you get.
I do give it a lot of light but I wonder if that would be enough to stunt the spikes growth so drastically The leaves are very tall but I noticed this morning that this particular bulb almost looks like a bulb within a bulb, it's very fat and rounded...is that even possible?
The blooms (what few there are ) are spectacular, I just wish there were more of them Each one is 2 inches across and 2 3/4 inches from top to bottom.
Is it just the lighting, or are the blooms a different color this time than they were the last time? It seems there is more yellow this time, and larger.
They both are pretty.
